Job Title: Natural Resources GIS Analyst

Job Description
About the Position 
In this role, you will perform the following tasks:

• Preparation of Land Status Reports
• Entry of deed information, reservations, outstanding rights, etc., into the USFS Land Status Record System (LSRS) following established protocols
• Interpreting historic records
• Interpreting Master Title Plats
• Maintenance of land status records
• Quick response to requests for land status records
• Maintenance of LSRS corporate-wide applications to disseminate GIS Maps.
• Maintain relationships with Forest, District, National USFS personnel and other technical experts as necessary
• Participate in meetings with lands, boundary and other program leads
• Participate in field trips to county assessors as needed
• Work with the Regional Realty Specialist and other Information Management Staff.
• Provides technical support to projects managed by others.
• Other duties as necessary.

 
About You
To excel in the position of Natural Resources GIS Analyst, you need to be a well-rounded technician possessing a client service mindset and exceptional interpersonal communication skills. 
Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated skill with (intermediate-level) ArcGIS 9x/10x software and GIS principles.
• Working knowledge of databases.
• Understanding and practice of spatial concepts and mapping techniques.
• Understanding and practice of good spatial data management.
• Understanding of computer networks and good file management practices.
• Adept at using MS Office software.
• Background knowledge of public land records and infrastructure, is desirable
• Experience with ParcelQuest software a plus
• Enthusiastic and team-oriented.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• Organized and self-motivated

 
Education

• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources or other relevant discipline.
• 1 to 3 years’ experience as a consultant in a GIS, forestry or environmental consulting firm preferred.
