Do you have high standards for customer service? If so, we are looking to fill a Conservation Strategy GIS Analyst at our Headquarters office in Salem.

The work of this role may be conducted remotely with full access to the needed operating systems and technology via a hybrid work schedule contingent upon the business needs.

What you will do:

• Provide technical coordination, data management, and collaboration with external partners and other state and federal agencies to coordinate spatial information used in the maintenance, implementation, and monitoring of the Oregon Conservation Strategy . 
• Provide technical expertise in collecting, mapping, analyzing, and displaying priority wildlife data and associated habitats for the Strategy and the Wildlife Conservation Program.
• Cooperate with partners to identify and address limitations and data gaps to current species and habitat information sources, which are identified and discussed in the Strategy. 
• Develop, manage, and maintain Conservation Strategy information systems within Oregon and directly steward approximately 36 very large and complex enterprise layers
• Oversee all aspects of the data management life cycle for spatial data within the Oregon Conservation Strategy and lead most aspects of design, maintenance, project management, and process for GIS-related application and data development efforts pertaining to the Oregon Conservation Strategy
• Perform data compilation and development activities related to fish and wildlife, and their habitats, with a focus on numerous Strategy species, to provide necessary simple and complex services to the agency and the Oregon Conservation Strategy
• Conduct spatial analysis (the manipulation of raw data to determine and express its technical and scientific relevance, often in the form of newly derived data) and complex modeling of raster overlays using advanced tools or extensions
• Investigate evolving technology and software development methods and recommend appropriate changes in consultation with the Strategy Team, Strategy partners at the state and national levels, NRIMP staff and supervisor. 
• Provide training, technical guidance and assistance to individuals or groups in formal and informal settings in the use of a variety of project geographic information systems and applications, including those directly connected with the Conservation Strategy.

Working Conditions
• Requires extended, daily use of personal computers to type, analyze, and summarize data.  Occasionally requires overnight travel.  Also requires occasional long hours and situations involving tight deadlines, meetings, interagency negotiations, and problem resolution.  Requires the person to remain current on GIS software applications. 

• This position has been designated as sensitive in that the incumbent in this position has access to information, the disclosure of which is prohibited by state or federal laws, rules or regulations or information that is defined as confidential under state or federal laws, rules, or regulations; or has access to tax or financial information about individuals or business entities.

• Requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day. This includes working at all hours and workdays in excess of eight hours. Work exceeding 40 hours per week requires supervisor approval.
