Project Development Specialist w/ Urban Greenspaces Institute

Job title: Project Development Specialist

Who We Are:
The Urban Greenspaces Institute <https://urbangreenspaces.org/> is a
twenty-year-old nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon with a
mission to advance urban conservation and green infrastructure. UGI works
across sectors to integrate nature into the urban fabric, and make nature
accessible for all. The organization has a staff of three, a board of
eight, and an annual budget of $150,000. UGI does policy advocacy, works in
coalition with other organizations to affect change, and leads several
regional collaborative conservation initiatives.

Desired Responsibilities:
  • Prepare proposals: work with partners, gather information, write/edit draft narratives, and develop budgets
  • Conduct outreach to and interviews with project partners, and summarize outreach findings in tabular and graphical summaries.
  • Develop project timelines and milestones, and work closely with the Executive Director to execute and implement new project.
  • Maintain project records and document progress for the board and Executive Director.
  • Assist with other organization operations, as assigned.

Necessary skills:
  • Writing and editing, presentation and layout design, problem solving, project planning, partner communications and social media management, strategic planning, research and analysis.

Required experience and technology
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-year related experience.
  • Experience with ArcGIS is desirable but not required.
  • No driver’s license is required, but the employee must have access to and use their own personal computer with an internet connection.

Compensation and work arrangements
  • This position will be half-time and average 20 hours per week for a six-month term of service.
  • Depending on funding availability and the mutually-determined fit of the candidate with the organization, the position may become full-time and permanent after six months.
  • Compensation will be $20-23 per hour depending on skills and experience. No other compensation or benefits will be provided.
  • The Project Development Specialist will work from home for at least the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. They will rely on email, phone and video conference calls to connect with UGI staff and partners.
