The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Recreation & Conservation Division as the Recreation Data Manager & GIS Analyst for the Recreation Program; providing senior level expertise in data management and data application development. As part of the Recreation and Conservation Division at DNR, the recreation program supports recreation and public access opportunities across more than three million acres of forested state trust lands, Natural Resource Conservation Areas, and Natural Areas Preserves. The Recreation Program manages over 1,200 miles of designated trails, 160 recreation sites, including 80 campgrounds, and access for hiking, horseback riding, camping, off-road vehicle (ORV) riding, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, nature/wildlife viewing, and boating in a wide variety of landscapes across the state. The recreation program also offers services to our regional recreation programs by providing operations, planning, grants and outreach support. This position is a journey level data manager that designs, develops, customizes, and manages database schemas and applications that extend the utility of recreation data for critical decisions relating to fulfilling the mission of the Recreation Program. Data, information, and products derived from the systems are used in support of the statewide recreation program by DNR, tribal governments, federal government agencies, and other state agencies, cities and counties, private organizations, and public recreationists. This data is used to determine recreation policy and activities across DNR-managed landscapes. Duties Responsibilities:
