Example of Duties
This position will support IDL's remote sensing program.

​Responsibilities will include:

• Lidar and UAS data acquisition
• Raster and point cloud data modeling
• Planning and assisting in field data collection
• Data processing
• Tool and product development
• Data delivery
• Provides management decision support as requested

Minimum Qualifications
Good knowledge of:

• Remote sensing and GIS technology including theories, principles, analysis, data conversion, image interpretation, and digital image processing
• Remote sensing satellite mission operations and data characteristics
• Sampling design
• Cartographic principles
• Principles of data base design and management

Some knowledge of:
Computer programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, Pascal, AML or object-oriented languages
Natural resource sciences

Experience:
Operating, applying, and programming ESRI software products, and ERDAS image processing software products in a work environment

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience analyzing LiDAR, aerial imagery, or other remote sensing datasets
• Experience using remote sensing data to develop products for timber inventory or other natural resource objectives
• Experience programming in R, Python, or other languages associated with GIS and remote sensing
• Strong computer skills: experience utilizing point-cloud data processing software preferred
  14 CFR Part 107 license and/or UAS pilot experience preferred
• Interest in field work and in state travel associated with lidar inventory modeling and UAV missions in a plus
