The role: 
Our Engineering Automation Section is recruiting for a senior survey analyst to join our remote sensing team! In this role, you will coordinate and support field and office operations in the collection and processing of various survey data including mobile, static and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) aerial LiDAR data; single-beam hydrographic data; UAS aerial imagery; and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). You will play a key role in researching, analyzing and developing remote sensing products and supporting our surveyors statewide in project delivery. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Plan and execute remote sensing data collection missions including technical details as well as access, travel, logistics, and safety.
  • Coordinate terrestrial, mobile and UAS field data collection operations.
  • Coordinate the processing, adjustment and analysis of Point Cloud, aerial imagery and survey data.
  • Perform and/or coordinate field surveys to locate, confirm and/or check vertical clearance measurements.
  • Perform GPR field surveys.
  • Provide on-the-job training and review work for quality, consistency, content and format.
  • Develop project basemap after surveying is completed.
  • Create and maintain highway vertical clearance information on highway structures and produce vertical clearance reports.
  • Support our agency’s asset management data acquisition, planning and coordination.
  • Lift and carry 20-50lb. survey instruments and traffic control signs.
  • Use shovels, picks, jackhammers, axes and gas/electric powered trimming equipment.
  • Work is performed in office and in the field with hybrid work options available - this position will work approximately 30% of the time in the field, 50% of the time remote, and 20% of the time in the office pending supervisor approval.
  • Outdoor work involves exposure to various hazards, including rough terrain, traffic, all weather conditions.

Minimum qualifications:
Five years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments;
OR
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying or transportation-related engineering and two years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience working with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and field survey operations.
