Position Summary Portland Parks & Recreation’s Urban Forestry Division is hiring 12 seasonal staff positions to help collect important data on street trees and planting spaces in neighborhoods across Portland. Data from the Tree Inventory Project contributes to improving urban forest management and planning, ensuring that all Portlanders have access to the very important public health and environmental services provided by trees. These services include, but are not limited to – cleaning the air, cooling our city, reducing stress and improving mental health for people, providing wildlife habitat, and creating safer streets. As a Tree Inventory Data Collector (CSA II), you will work independently, measuring, mapping, and identifying street trees and planting spaces in neighborhoods across Portland. You will represent the inventory program to diverse communities as you complete your fieldwork This position will work regularly outdoors in all weather conditions. This role also requires the ability to move around on uneven terrain, lifting and carrying items up to 30 pounds. Training in tree identification and data collection will be provided.
