2020 Youth Leadership Camp, October 12-16, in Basque Country. See the attached flyer.
The WFCP Youth Leadership Camp is an opportunity for U.S. students to meet and work with other students from around the world. It is part of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) 2020 World Congress in Basque Country-Spain, which also includes a Leadership Institute for college administrators and six other pre-cons for college faculty which are organized by the WFCP affinity groups. WFCP Board members TKNIKA (Basque Country, Spain) and the Association of Colleges (UK) are the WFCP 2020 World Congress hosts. (AACC also sits on the WFCP Board and is Vice-Chair for the Americas.) 2020 Youth Leadership Camp activities will include:
Professional facilitators will conduct the Camp workshops and discussion groups. During the last WFCP World Congress in 2018 in Melbourne, Australia, students also received one academic credit for their participation. Bonus for U.S. Students TKNIKA and the Embassy of France in the United States have agreed to assist U.S. community colleges to extend their experience in Basque Country to 2 weeks (in Spain and France). The extended experience can, for example, include visits to institutions in Spain and/or France according to students’ interests. The extended timing allows community college students to apply for federal study abroad funding, such as Gilman Scholarships (i.e., which has a 2-week minimum). During our discussion at WDI, you stated that ATEI can also provide additional funding. Community colleges can email WFCP Board Member and AACC Director of International Programs & Services Wayne Wheeler at [email protected] for assistance in accessing the proper points of contact at TKNIKA and the Embassy of France.
