I am a Geographer with an interest and background in cultural geography, GIS, and geographic education.  I am a strong believer in the power of observation and feel the best way to get to 'know' a place is talk to the people, walk the streets, eat the food, visit the places of worship, and generally immerse yourself in the culture.  GIS is a tool that has allowed me to understand place and culture through the power of maps and spatial analysis.

Currently, I am teaching classes at Portland Community College that are a part of their GIS Certificate program.  This includes the core GIS courses, cultural mapping, human geography, cartography, and geospatial concepts.  My courses have an emphasis on hands-on application, community service, observation and fieldwork.

Portfolio

I love making maps.  That simple.  They are the best tool for visual storytelling.
