Sustainability & Recycling at PCC
Andrew Wightman took on this project with the PCC Sustainability office to map the variety of recycling, waste, and composting bins on each of the PCC campuses. The office of Sustainability was interested in knowing how accessible the receptacles are on each campus and if they are equally distributed. How far does a person walk in order to find one? If PCC faculty & staff are required to take their own recycling and trash to one of the bins, where do they go? Over 65 maps were produced showing each building & floor from three campuses. Below are a few examples.
Portland Community Gardens. Mapping the Need
With a mission to provide access to community gardens to Portland residents, Portland Parks & Recreation Community Gardens wants to find new places to develop community gardens for all those interested. Chris Smith mapped out all existing gardens, as well as all the addresses of people on the wait list to look at current demand for gardens.
