Cultural Atlas of Portland - Psychogeography
In collaboration with David Banis & Hunter Shobe at Portland State University (Geography Dept), this class continued research on cultural aspects of Portland, but this time with an emphasis on Psychogeography topics. Psychogeography is the study of precise laws & specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions & behavior of individuals. The class was broken down into 5 main groups - Smells, Colors, Emotions, Sounds, and Personal Maps. The Cultural Atlas project and the Psychogeography maps, are a creative endeavor that suggests uncommon ways of thinking about the place that is Portland by mapping atypical topics.
