Course Description & Focus
This course offers individualized study at an advanced level in areas of Geography or GIS not considered in other courses to meet the special interests of individual students. Students complete a term project and readings in coordination with a Geography faculty member.
Independent study classes need to be set up in coordination with Geography Faculty. This is done on an individual basis between student and faculty member.
This course can be used as elective credit towards the GIS certificate and is a great way to get some experience working on a research project. Geography & GIS students have done research on urban beaver habitat, obesity rates in Oregon, demographic distributions in Oregon, distribution of E.Coli in the Tryon Creek watershed, passage barriers in Johnson Creek watershed, and contributions to an updated Atlas of Oregon.
