Cambridge MA Responsibilities This position will be responsible for monitoring, investigating, testing, evaluating, and implementing GIS application development technologies for the Center for Geographic Analysis (CGA). Working closely with the professional CGA staff team and the Harvard GIS user community, the GIS Fellow will be involved in designing, developing, improving and supporting GIS software platforms for research and teaching across Harvard University. Qualifications Master’s degree in geographic information science, computer science, engineering, geography or a related field. Strong programming skills in JavaScript. Hands-on experience with web development using an object-oriented language such as Python (preferred), Java or Ruby. Experience with an RDBMS such as Postgres, MySQL, or Oracle. Experience with geospatial extensions to the above RDBMS is a strong plus. Strong understanding of HTML. Familiarity with developing on SE Linux.
