We are a fast-moving team that manages the enterprise-level GIS platform, datasets, and services for Weyerhaeuser. In this “player-coach” role you will lead the GIS Services Data Stewardship team. You will develop relationships with key internal partners throughout Weyerhaeuser’s various business units, including Timberlands, Corporate Development, Real Estate, Natural Resources, Recreation Access, Acquisition and Divestiture, Legal, and Tax, and you will acquire a thorough understanding of their data to better serve their needs. You will collaborate with these partners, other Information Technology (IT) teams, and GIS professionals to deliver GIS data, analytic, and cartographic services. In addition, you will provide technical direction for several critical enterprise geodatabases and raster library of imagery and LiDAR products. 

The work associated with this role will be performed in a hybrid capacity: partial telework, partial in one of our major US offices (Seattle, WA; Atlanta, GA; Springfield, OR, Vancouver, WA; Hot Springs, AR; Madison, GA, Columbia Falls, MT). Additional locations near other Weyerhaeuser Timberlands office may be considered for qualified candidates.


Key Responsibilities 
  • Lead the GIS Data Stewardship team within GIS Services. Manage a team of four GIS analysts/developers distributed across the US.
  • Establish a governance model for data products and services to improve cross-company collaboration. This includes documenting and prioritizing requests, tracking work progress, managing capacity of the team, and maintaining a roadmap of future projects/initiatives.
  • Work closely with the various business units in the development of business cases, financial analysis including ROI, project charters, process definitions, and functional requirements for medium to large-sized projects. 
  • Leverage deep relationships with business partners, IT partners, and vendor experts to identify, prioritize and ensure successful implementation of GIS data initiatives. These initiatives include assessing new third-party datasets, provisioning data for internal use, integrating data from internal GIS systems, and resolving complex data issues.
  • Provide oversight for Weyerhaeuser’s enterprise geodatabases, including a GIS data warehouse that integrates spatial and tabular data from several critical Weyerhaeuser systems, and Weyerhaeuser’s extensive raster library of imagery and LiDAR products.
  • Provide leadership with respect to strategic vision and tactical use of GIS data for managing Weyerhaeuser’s land portfolio.
  • Promote GIS across the enterprise by educating teams on GIS trends, benefits and risks, and effectively communicate the value and opportunity of emerging technologies. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive, relevant GIS and IT experience.
  • Experience managing a small team, including people management, capacity and demand management.
  • Experience leading large, complex and enterprise-wide GIS projects, including assessments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficient in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration skills while working together across GIS, business, IT, and vendor partners.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.
  • This position requires occasional travel up to 10%. 

Technical Qualifications 
  • Possess senior-level GIS technical knowledge and skills with both vector and raster data, including enterprise geodatabase design, geodatabase administration, spatial relationships, analysis, scripting, and cartography.
  • Experience working with relational database management systems, especially SQL Server, using Esri and non-Esri tools. 
  • Demonstrated experience integrating IT and GIS technologies using relational databases and/or web services.
  • Proficient with the Esri ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online.
  • Working knowledge of geodatabase versioning and SQL Server spatial data types.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models including both agile/iterative and traditional project management principles. 

Highly Valued 
  • Significant experience with forestry, land management, land sales/acquisitions, and land title concepts and datasets.
  • Experience designing and building data warehouse and data integrations using iPaaS tools, APIs, and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL/ITSM principles and practices. 

What We Offer:


Compensation
: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $101,600 - $152,400 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 15% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

JOB SUMMARY: This position works in the Natural and Cultural Resources Division in data analysis, to support tribal treaty rights. The Analyst will collaborate with other tribal departments to develop GIS tools and scripts to address and promote efficient data collection, storage, maintenance, and analysis. Will develop and integrate the existing predictive modeling and decision tools. Participate in field work associated with the development of data collection applications, under the supervision of the Marine & Nearshore Program Manager.

Assist in maintaining the Geographic Information System (GIS) and support the GIS operations for the City;

SUMMARY:
Assists in the planning, design, development, and maintenance of the Tribal GIS. Provides technical and analytical support for GIS projects as required by GIS and as directed by supervisor.  GIS Analysts perform GIS analysis, data creation and management, programming, database development and project management. They effectively prioritize and schedule a variety of work assignments, possess good verbal and written communication skills and establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, tribal members and outside agencies.The GIS Analyst is the first-level professional in the Analyst Series. The GIS Analyst differs from the Senior GIS Analyst by both the scope of work performed as well as by the level of supervision and direction required.

1. GIS Analysis:
  • Help Natural Resources Staff translate their GIS needs into practical, effective GIS solutions.

Job Summary
The City of Bellevue is recruiting a GIS Analyst to support the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. The GIS Analyst will be a member of a larger team of GIS and Business System Analysts in the Business Systems Team in the Utilities Department. The Analyst will assist with database maintenance, cartographic displays, evaluation of data quality and completeness, and process documentation under the supervision and guidance of the Sr. Engineer Technician. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of GIS principles and practices, be detail oriented, and have a desire to serve the public. Utilities experience is a plus. Scripting knowledge is a plus.

  • Makes changes to water system maps and data sets using a variety of sources, including, but not limited to field collected data, field markups, as-built drawings, aerial imagery, and Google Street View

GIS Analyst - Redline (LTE) w/ City of Bellvue (WA)

Summary
The City of Bellevue is recruiting a GIS Analyst to support GIS data entry of water, sewer, and storm utility infrastructure. The GIS Analyst will be a member of a larger team of GIS and Business System Analysts in the Business Systems Team in the Utilities Department. The Analyst will assist with database maintenance, cartographic displays, evaluation of data quality and completeness, and process documentation under the supervision and guidance of the Sr. Engineer Technician. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of GIS principles and practices, be detail oriented, and have a desire to serve the public. Water, sewer, and stormwater Utilities experience is a plus. Scripting knowledge is a plus.

​Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Makes changes to water, sewer, and stormwater system GIS datasets using a variety of sources, including, but not limited to field markups, as-built drawings, aerial imagery, and Google Street View
  • Researches and interprets construction as-built drawings, field markups, deeds, surveys, and legal descriptions, as needed to map Utility assets
  • Understands available GIS datasets, overall GIS data file structures, and sources of GIS data
  • Performs data extraction and analysis from geodatabases and enterprise relational databases
  • Adheres to department’s GIS data entry and business rules and proposes rule modifications, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Work is performed under moderate to general supervision.

Qualifications
  • Formal GIS Training and/or certification; graduation from a four-year college preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in GIS or related field preferred
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop software, including experience with geometric networks and attribute assistant
  • Experience with geospatial database maintenance and documentation
  • Familiarity with cartographic design principles
  • Basic understanding of desktop GIS automation 
  • Ability to move tasks forward to completion in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Works and communicates well in an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong commitment to the City's core values of exceptional public service, innovation, integrity, commitment to employees, and stewardship

Summary
The Bureau of Technology Services (BTS) Corporate Geographic Information Systems (CGIS) Division is seeking an experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Application Developer and Data Architect to support the Bureau of Environmental Services (BES). The City uses the latest technologies from ESRI, VertiGIS Studio (Geocortex), Microsoft, and Google to deliver innovative enterprise spatial solutions to support critical business operations and engage with internal and external customers.

​As a Principal Information Systems Analyst – Vertical GIS, you will:
  • Coordinate with BES and Corporate GIS to provide bureau data and solutions required by City staff and the public.
  • Manage a variety of GIS projects by defining scope of work, timelines, budget, tasks and deliverables.
  • Independently deliver a full software development lifecycle, from inception through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Design innovative solutions to meet complex business needs using GIS and analytic data presentation methods.
  • Develop and foster business relations to support bureau-wide goals and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively in a diverse team environment with the ability to interact effectively with other groups in the organization.
The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive police background investigation and be able to work in a culturally and gender diverse workplace.

To Qualify

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
  • Expert knowledge programming ESRI software including ArcMap 10.x, ArcGIS Pro 3.x, ArcGIS for Enterprise (Portal)/ArcGIS Online (Survey123, Field Maps, Hub, Dashboards), and VertiGIS Studio.
  • Expert knowledge of metadata principles, standards, data governance and policy.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL development, integration, transformation, and performance tuning including database design and development with SQL Server.
  • Ability to program HTML, JavaScript, XML, JSON, and/or Python including integration with REST API services and development of ETL processes using data integration tools such FME.
  • Knowledge of business process modeling and reengineering relevant to GIS technologies, principles, and methods, including software and attendant data technologies.
  • Ability to assess user business needs and develop requirements, specifications and designs necessary to deliver enterprise GIS solutions including supporting data analysis and sharing data and visualizations.

We are excited to announce the 11th annual PDX GIS Day will be held at Ecotrust's beautiful and spacious Irving Street Studio on Wednesday, November 15th at 6:00pm.

We are even more excited that renowned cartographer, Dan Coe will be the keynote speaker. Come for pizza, drinks, dessert, and to mingle with the local GIS community in this wonderful space.
