Enterprise GIS Support Specialist w/ Audobon

Position Summary:
The Enterprise GIS Support Specialist applies an interdisciplinary approach to supporting the Conservation & Business Planning unit in implementing appropriate GIS solutions to support priority projects across the network for the National Audubon Society.  S/he is an expert in creating and managing GIS web services, desktop GIS, multi-user spatial data management,  and SDE creation and management.  The Specialist will use basic programming skills in java script, flex, and python to support custom applications and COTS for geographic information systems.

This opportunity will be based in the US, and remote environments will be considered.

Essential Functions:

• Build & Manage SDEs on a regional level
• Create and Maintain authoritative datasets by implementing multi–editor solutions (versioning, replicas, etc. for desktop and web users)
• Create and maintain workflows for GIS user management  (desktop deployment, AGOL user group, staging publishers)
• Create and manage AGOL content
• Assist all users in region on developing and maintaining AGOL content that meets organization standards
• Assist all Desktop users in creating content that meets organization standards (FGDC compliant metadata etc)
• Manage a help desk for the region
• Utilize COTS for geographic information systems web applications
• Provide vision for custom web and mobile applications and develop code (java, flex) and python for data management and workflows
• Provide strategic thinking on priority projects to utilize appropriate GIS solutions to maximize conservation impact
• Represent Audubon as a leader in Enterprise GIS in professional meetings and conferences

Qualifications and Experience:

• Background in Conservation/Enviromental Science and Master's or technical degree in GIS
• 3-5 years' experience working in an Enterprise GIS with the full suite of Esri projects
• GISP and/or Esri technical certifications, as well as certification in MS SQL & MS Access preferred
• Expert level aptitude in ArcServer (and extensions, including GeoEvent processor), MS SQL Server, and ArcGIS desktop.
• Experience managing large datasets and supporting workflows to maintain accuracy
• Experience managing map, feature, and geoprocessing services, from development to stage to production
• Experience with amazon ec2 cloud instances
• Basic skills in application development a must (COTS, java, flex & python)
• Familiarity with Miradi, Miradi Share, and the principles and concepts of the Open Standards for Conservation Planning
• Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise GIS best practices (metadata, users, roles, GDB rules and SDE management)
• Familiarity with mobile solutions (personal device and Trimble GPS hardware)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work across disciplines and build solutions for users of a varying skill level
