GIS Intern w/Vigor Industrial

Work with the Environmental team and the Storm Water Manager to help field verify and map the storm drain infrastructure in Portland. Duties will include field verification of stormwater infrastructure, mapping collected data in GIS, and entering attribute data into GIS software. Must have knowledge of GIS and editing data, and limited database experience to create linked tables to certain infrastructure. The infrastructure that needs to be mapped as different “shapefiles”  include:

• PIPES (attributes to include length, size, material, depth, etc.)
• Best Management Practices (attributes to include treatment type, maintenance required, date installed, etc.)
• Inlet Drains (drain inlet type, dimensions, sump characteristics, material type, etc.)

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Mental ability to evaluate, assess and manage complex problems and policy related matters, at times in emotionally charged situations. There may be times where the individual will be in production areas. The incumbent must be able to walk to and from job sites. Also, the person may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. On occasions the incumbent may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. There may be the need to travel up to 25% of the time and/or out-of-town (including air travel). WORK ENVIRONMENT:
