The award-winning GeoAcademy GIS training program is pleased to announce our new undergraduate Fundamentals in Open Source Software Geospatial Technology Using QGIS Certificate beginning in September 2015. The workforce education (CEU) certificate consists of five courses, each 50 clock hours long, offered in 8-week semesters over a total of 10 months (September 2015—June 2016). The entire five course sequence requires a total of 250 hours to complete. The courses are taught by industry certified (GISP) experts from leading US-based colleges and universities. Class are fully online and can be completed at the learner’s pace within the dates of the 8 week semesters. Learners and their instructors will interact via video-based conferencing system at key milestones during each course. Learners will engage in self-study activities based around project-based activities using leading open source software including QGIS, GRASS, Inkscape, etc.
The Certificate is appropriate for anyone desiring to learn GIS technology from the open source software perspective. Learners with prior GIS experience will learn the latest in QGIS technology with ease. New users to GIS will be guided with more than 100 instructional videos to provide them step-by-step assistance. Enrollment is limited to 25 learners per cohort in order to maintain a low learner to instructor ratio for quality instruction. The five courses include:
