GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Geospatial Database Specialist serves as an important member of MB&G's geospatial team. The team provides a full range of GIS solutions and support for multi-disciplinary projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 and ArcObjects .NET. • Experience writing views, stored procedures, functions, SSIS packages and ad hoc SQL. • Knowledge of ESRI Geodatabase types. • GIS experience: map making, editing, data import/export, data capturing. • Edits and prepares presentations, maps and graphic products. • Demonstrate GIS products and/or trains others in techniques. • Provides technical support to projects managed by others. • Contributes to technical reports as required, e.g., technical approach, methods, data analysis • Responsible for accurate and timely deliverables and documentation for all projects. • Complete work in reasonable amount of time and remain within budget. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: • Actively promotes MB&G as a premier provider of natural resource consulting services. • Performs administrative tasks as needed and attendance at company/group meetings. • Performs other duties as necessary. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: • This position is not supervisory in nature. INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: • Contacts are within the company, business contacts and with our clients. JOB SKILLS: • Experience with MS SQL Server 2008R2 and Visual Studio 2010. • Proficiency with GIS software specifically ESRI suite of GIS software. • Proficiency with GPS data collections and post-processing • Understanding and practice of spatial concepts and mapping techniques. • Understanding and practice of good spatial data management. • Understanding of computer networks and good file management practices. • Ability to adapt to frequent changes/interruptions. • Excellent written and oral communication. • Enthusiastic, energetic, team-oriented individual. • Excellent written and oral communication. • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills. • Operates independently under minimal supervision. • Work well with others. • Responsive and client service oriented. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • BS or BA in Computer Science, Geography or natural resource related field required • 1 to 2 years experience as a consultant in a geospatial/GIS, forestry or environmental consulting firm required. • Combination of education and experience. JOB CONDITIONS: • Valid driver license required. • Work is performed both within the field and in our Portland, Oregon, headquarters office.
