GIS Analyst:  Technical position performing progressively broad GIS assignments and projects with limited supervision. Assists and supports GIS professionals with larger and more complex GIS projects.  


Duties:
  • Perform GIS analyses utilizing a combination of spatial and tabular data.
  • Create, update, and maintain GIS data.
  • Perform GIS layer maintenance utilizing advanced technologies, such as GPS.
  • Assist in the direction of GIS layer creation and maintenance.
  • Assist in the creation of geodatabase structures and schemas.
  • Present status reports to senior staff.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to Tier I and other County personnel as required.
  • Apply knowledge of GIS theory/concepts to propose and develop GIS solutions addressing customer needs.
  • Utilize work order management technologies and processes to ensure effective GIS service delivery.
  • Develop and utilize project management tools and techniques to facilitate the completion of assigned GIS projects.
  • Form strong collaborative working relationships with customers to anticipate needs, capitalize on opportunities to provide GIS-centric solutions, advance project efforts, and enhance the reputation of GIS within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain skills as necessary to keep current with GIS technology and professional best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification is desirable.  3 - 5 years experience editing Utilities (potable water, wastewater, reuse water) data in GIS applications.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of documented and proven GIS experience.   OR
2-Year Degree in related field and three (3) years of documented and proven GIS experience.  OR
Bachelor’s Degree (4-Year) in geography, geomatics, GIS, or related field and one year of documented and proven GIS experience.  OR Master’s Degree (2-Year) in geography, geomatics, GIS, or related field.
 
Note: One year of college may substitute for one year of experience.

  • Collaboration and Facilitation Skills
Physical Demands
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
