GIS Analyst w/ Conservation Biology Institute (Corvalis, OR) - temporary

​TITLE:  GIS Analyst
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Temporary 

Position Overview
The Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) is a fast growing science-based non-profit advancing the conservation and restoration of biological diversity on our planet. We are a mission-driven organization, intensely collaborative, and thrive on being creative and flexible.  Our main office is located in Corvallis, Oregon, but we have staff working out of home offices in various locations in California, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and Illinois. 

We are looking for a full-time, temporary GIS Analyst who would like to be part of our team of professionals. The current position is for 9 months, but extension of this position is possible contingent upon funding availability and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute GIS analysis and cartography expertise to conservation projects.  Participate as a team member for projects that require spatial analysis and GIS expertise.  
• Manage and maintain GIS data resources. Prioritize and curate project specific spatial datasets.
• Create and manage metadata.
• Develop and run GIS models.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Extensive technical knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS), and methods for manipulating, processing and analyzing spatial data
• Experience applying GIS and spatial analysis to conservation
• Ability to use ArcGIS Modelbuilder for automating GIS analysis and database management
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to manage time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of a B.S. or B.A. in Natural Resources or related field 
• Experience with ArcGIS software family in a conservation setting
• Experience managing, maintaining, and populating GIS databases
• Experience producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports
• Experience analyzing, building, populating and producing reports from spatial data

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

• Over two years of experience 
• Experience in spatial data management
• Knowledge of programming
• Experience with python scripting for spatial analysis

Salary and Job Status :

• Hourly compensation will be dependent upon experience level.
• This position is full-time temporary for 9 months with the chance for regular employment possible.  We prefer that this position be located in CBI’s Corvallis Office but we are open to the possibility for remote staff.
