The Institute for Natural Resources Director’s Office is seeking a Faculty Research Assistant. This is a part-time (0.49 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
 
The purpose of this position is to engage in geographic information systems work on Institute for Natural Resources projects, with particular emphasis on the Oregon Explorer (OE) Program mapping and reporting tools. The GIS Analyst will also be responsible for; preparing project materials for posting on INR web sites; representing INR at project and professional meetings; and taking on special projects at the discretion of the INR Director or Associate Director. The position directly supports the Information Program of the INR.
 
Minimum/Required Qualifications          

• B.A./B.S. with a major or emphasis in geography, natural resources, ecology, biology, planning, or related field.
• Equivalent of 1 year of hands-on experience working with workstation ARC/INFO, Arcview, and ArcGIS.
• Candidate must have knowledge of typical data conversion procedures, map projections and coordinate systems, and the principles of cartography; preferably all within the context of ARC/INFO, ARCVIEW and ArcGIS software.
• Understanding of and working experience with spatial databases and map libraries.
• Equivalent of 1 year of web programming experience, including experience developing, testing and publishing workflows in Geocortex Workflow Designer for integration with map viewers and external sites; experience upgrading Geocortex Essentials map templates files; experience developing, testing and publishing custom modules in TypeScript using MVVM development patterns for use in Geocortex map viewers; and experience developing, testing and publishing custom reports using Geocortex Report Designer including script modification for dynamic display.
