A major new pillar of Outdoor Alliance’s effectiveness will be our GIS Lab that will inform land planning and improve national conservation policy. The GIS Lab will enable our community and policy makers to better evaluate, understand and visualize complex geospatial relationships that will result in better policy outcomes for our public lands. We’re looking for a contracting GIS professional who loves the outdoors and is passionate about using technology and data to bring citizens together to affect public policy. The successful GIS professional has a wide array of GIS skills and the ability to apply those skills in a dynamic coalition setting. She or he will be a self-starter, innovative and eager to work with the GIS Lab Director to manage human-powered outdoor recreation data, and will help to design and develop innovative GIS products that drive cutting-edge conservation work. Outdoor Alliance is a network of human-powered outdoor recreation advocates and nonprofits, including Access Fund, American Canoe Association, American Whitewater, International Mountain Bicycling Association, Winter Wildlands Alliance, The Mountaineers, and American Alpine Club.
