Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is a locally owned Pacific Northwest consulting firm specializing in the areas of environmental science, engineering, planning, and GIS. Since 1996, MFA has grown to more than 70 employees, with offices in Portland, Oregon, Vancouver, Seattle, and Bellingham, Washington, and in Kellogg, Idaho. As a result of MFA’s growth in GIS and data management services, FLO Analytics was created, a subsidiary of MFA. FLO provides services to clients not traditionally served by environmental consulting firms. Both MFA and FLO provide services to a diverse client base that includes private business and industry, ports, municipalities, state and federal entities, non-profit organizations, and Native American tribes.

Position Description:
MFA is seeking a full-time GIS Developer/Analyst for our Portland, Oregon, office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing GIS technical support, information system design, and web and mobile application development. Primary duties include project management on a variety of information system design projects and assisting with day-to-day GIS tasks for company projects.

To Qualify:

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS degree from a U.S. accredited college or university in geography, environmental studies/science, planning, computer science, or a related field with an emphasis in GIS and/or computer science. 
• Two to five years of work experience as a GIS Technician, Analyst, or Developer, and with direct experience in developing web, mobile, and/or database applications. 
• Experience working with ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop suite and extensions 
• Experience in working with ESRI’s ArcGIS Server and Web APIs. 
• Experience in programming (e.g., Microsoft’s .NET or Java) 
• Experience in web application development (e.g., JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Python and/or developing mobile applications on the iOS and Android platforms). 
• Experience in the design and management of database management systems (e.g., Microsoft Access, SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL). 
• Experience in scoping, designing, and developing information systems using a variety of tools, including experience with or an interest in Agile development and Pivotal Tracker. 
• Proficiency with Adobe’s Creative Suite. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access. 
• Proven organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail. 
• Must be able to formulate and clearly communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing. 
• Ability to work independently with little guidance and in a collaborative group environment.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.
  

 Desired Skills and Abilities

• Experience in working with environmental, planning, and utility datasets.
• Experience developing asset management related applications and associated databases.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing Microsoft SQL Server.  
• Proficiency in Visual Basic and Python Scripting.
