The City of Puyallup is hiring for a part-time IT GIS Internship. The position will be 20 hours per week, lasting 8 weeks. The work schedule will be determined with input from the successful candidate. The internship will be a combination of in person training and then primarily remote work the remainder of the time. This internship will provide mapping and technical support to the IT Department with primary technical guidance provided by the GIS Coordinator. The work requires compliance with frequent deadlines. Normal attention to work is required to prevent errors. Work is performed in an office setting but may require fieldwork. Essential Functions This position provides technical and mapping support to the GIS function of the IT Department. The intern will assist with projects related to the City's GIS mapping services and special projects. Work assigned to this position may include:

Physical Characteristics and Work Environment Constant Demands: Talking, hearing, seeing, walking, lifting an average of 5 to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing ladders, bending and twisting at the waist, crouching/kneeling/squatting, reaching below knees to above shoulder, handling/grasping. Frequent Demands: Sitting, repetitive hand and arm motion. Works primarily with: Clerical duties to be performed in an office environment with low noise levels; events will entail moderate to high noise levels with employee's time spent indoors and outdoors in various work settings.
