GIS Internship w/ Oregon Metro (paid, Portland)

This position will be active from April-May; weekdays; 20+ hours per week for a total of approximately 200 hours.

This position is open to graduate students or recent graduates seeking work experience in the field of environmental studies/science, planning or geography.

This position is located in the Community Development Division of Metro's Planning and Development Department. Wage is dependent on education and experience.

About this internship
The GIS intern will work on a project that focuses on illustrating and estimating the extent of brownfields in the region and outlining a range of best practices that could be applied in the region to effect brownfield redevelopment.The person in this internship  will provide GIS technical support and conduct data gap research for Metro’s Regional Brownfields Scoping Project. The intern will work with planners and GIS specialists to further build this database by conducting a data gap analysis and assisting in compiling the GIS-based database of information. The intern should be highly motivated as this project will require field research to track down records that are not available electronically. Working with a range of professionals, the intern has an opportunity to advance their GIS skills, increase their knowledge of brownfield redevelopment and gain experience applying these skills to policy development.
