Position Description:
The City of Spokane is seeking a temporary GIS Specialist to join our GIS team within the IT department. This is currently a full-time, 6 month position with long term funding to be determined.

Job Duties:
• Provide GIS analysis and support to Public Safety clients (i.e. Police, Fire) and/or other city departments as directed 
• Develop maps and reports and perform spatial and statistical analyses
• Create and maintain GIS layers and associated metadata
• Work closely with regional partners to identify and correct address and geocoding errors
• Manage and organize GIS datasets in an enterprise geodatabase environment
• Use scripting and geo-processing techniques to automate various GIS tasks
• Provide general GIS user support and training as needed

Qualifications
• 4 year degree in GIS or related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience using ArcGIS 10.x software
• Demonstrated knowledge in cartographic design and an overall understanding of core GIS theory and best practices
• Knowledge of address standards and geocoding
• Considerable experience using advanced GIS editing tools
• Experience with GIS workflow process and QA/QC procedures
• Experience creating GIS data layers and working with geodatabases and ArcSDE
• A strong understanding of GIS analysis techniques and geo-processing tools
• Experience developing scripts and tools using Python, ArcPy or other development languages
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Must be a self-starter willing to work on a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision
• Public safety and/or computer-aided dispatch experience a plus
• Salary: Hourly DOE. Local candidates preferred.
