Position Summary ODOT15-0003oc – Salem This position is within ODOT’s Transportation Development Division (TDD). TDD’s mission is to develop an efficient, safe transportation system that enhances Oregon’s economic competitiveness and livability. The Geographic Information Services (GIS) Unit is part of the TDD and is responsible for preparing urban and rural transportation maps, Geographic Information System analysis, products, custom maps, GIS and data products as requested. This group also represents ODOT on mapping and data uniformity issues with other governmental agencies. This position conducts GIS analysis and assists in developing and maintaining GIS applications. The results are distributed statewide to customers. GIS applications designed and maintained by this position provide analysis which supports federally mandated Functional Classification/Federal Aid System, National Highway System, STIP development and the Highway Performance Monitoring System. Applications are used in determining locations for transportation improvements and eligibility for funding. GIS products support transportation planning, statewide street network locations, and safety related initiatives, to name a few.
