Position Description
​With this small but mighty team, and a wide variety of City services that range from streetlights to homelessness support to community safety, every day is different at Gresham. Generally, you’ll get the opportunity to:

• Nerd out on data: You’ll gather, compile, map and analyze all kinds of data, from planning to infrastructure. This work is detail-oriented and specific, and your co-workers will rely on you to create, edit and maintain GIS data, reports, processes, and other technical documentation. You’ll produce all kinds of interesting things like maps, graphics, tables, and reports.
• Help others: IT is a customer-service oriented department, and you will get the chance to facilitate small group project meetings, support other team members, and research and respond to mapping, analysis, report and information requests.
• Problem solve: We want to hear how we can be more efficient with our processes and methods. We’ll ask you to research best practices and trends to ensure we are operating to the best of our ability. You’ll also help with system testing and debugging to ensure that our systems can operate smoothly.

Qualifications
At a minimum, to be considered, you need this technical experience:

• An associate’s degree and Certificate in GIS, plus a minimum of 1 year minimum GIS professional experience.
  -OR-
• Three to six years professional experience in the GIS field, including a Certificate in GIS.

 
Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Strong familiarity with technology and change, particularly ever-changing software solutions.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS suite of products.
• Experience with GIS products.

And, for really going above and beyond, our preferred candidates will have the following. If you don’t have all of these, that’s okay!

• Experienced at designing infographics and reports including maps, charts, tables and
• narratives.
• Experience in managing lifecycle of data and information in conformance with data
• standards.
• Proficiency with analyzing trends in data using statistical methods and presenting the
• results to non-technical audience.
• Experience in using variety of report building and analysis tools.
• Exposure modern programming languages like Python.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Esri Business Analyst, Insights for ArcGIS,
• Power BI, Office 365.
• Experience with managing utility, planning and public safety GIS data.
