​Example of Duties

• Support the management of Idaho's natural resources by planning, developing, and implementing a department-wide geographic information system (GIS).
• Manage staff including the hiring, training, scheduling, supporting, and mentoring
• Guide staff in geographic information systems (GIS), digital image analysis, digital cartography, and solution development.
• Evaluate, prioritize, plan and assign projects.
• Coordinate with IDL Bureau and Operation staff to integrate digital data into platforms and work-flows efficiently.
• Create policy and procedure for internal compliance.
• Advise on the integration and development of internal Enterprise systems.

​Minimum Qualifications
Experience:

• Analyzing land management program issues, making recommendations and writing reports.
• Developing programs including establishing goals and strategic direction, budgeting, and evaluating results.
• Working with various groups, individuals and interests to develop understanding, acceptance and support for a program.
• Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Good Knowledge of:

• Computer programming languages such as Python, HTML, Java, C++, R, and relational database management.
• Advanced planning, designing and implementing GIS applications and applied research projects; preparing reports and presentations of technical material.
• Operating, applying, and programming ESRI software products, and ERDAS image processing software products.
• Bachelor's degree in forest management, forest hydrology, wildlife management, fisheries management, engineering geology, or related field.
