https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/8771 New York Sea Grant (NYSG), a cooperative program of the State University of New York (SUNY) and Cornell University, is part of a national network of 33 university-based state sea grant programs that are administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NYSG integrates research, education and extension to promote economic vitality and environmental sustainability to coastal residents and communities of the State's marine and Great Lakes areas. This position will serve as the primary technical resource within the following areas: coastal processes and hazards (including impacts of climate change on coastal systems), shoreline erosion and erosion management, coastal flooding and mitigation planning, coastal structures and engineering, marine facilities design, as well as operation and management for New York Sea Grant and Cornell Cooperative Extension. Plan and conduct extension education programs in coastal processes and hazards; develop significant new subject matter materials, tools and programs such as curricula and extension education publications, websites, and other technology based extension mechanisms. Seek, obtain, manage and administer external funding for applied research and extension activities related to subject matter areas. Keep current in area of professional expertise. Primary geographic area responsibility includes Sea Grant's Marine District (Long Island, New York City and Hudson Valley). This position is full-time (40 hours/week) and will be located in Stony Brook, New York. This is a three-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance. In order to be considered for an appointment as a Senior Extension Associate, minimum requirement include a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, however, a PhD is preferred.
