Natural Resources Planner I
Job Description: Entry level position; provides assistance and support to staff on a range of natural resource planning and management projects. Relies on senior staff for assignments and direction.

• Planning: Assists in the project planning process where needed, including development of planning stages. 
• Data Assembly/Management: Assembles and organizes data gathered in the field, on the web and through other sources. Develops analysis tools useful for data interpretation and presentation.
• Report Development: Assists in report development, writing sections of report as assigned; produces and updates visual data, figures, and graphics for reports.
• Prospecting/Networking: Creates and builds relationships with current and potential clients and partners through regular communication and by establishing rapport with clients and networking with personal colleagues for future work and partnerships. 
• GIS Support: Performs GIS tasks as needed. Creates spatial displays of data, thematic maps and contribute to growing GIS library, including development of geo-database templates. 
• Field Work: Participates in field work on as-needed basis. This may entail project-specific data collection.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in natural-resources related field
• One to two years of experience

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of natural resource, land use, fish and/or watershed management and planning issues; environmental laws; project management principles and techniques, as appropriate for job focus.
• Experienced in one or more of the following areas: environmental restoration planning or implementation; environmental policy development or implementation; geographic information systems
• Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Familiar with standard office software applications
• Self starter, ability to work independently and with a team
• Physically able to perform field procedures
• Able and willing to support and collaborate with other team members in a small office environment in order to reach goals

Desired Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of ESRI suite of GIS applications
