The Geo-Environmental Section is part of the Highway Division, Technical Services Branch of the Oregon Department of Transportation. The headquarter's office is located in the Technical Leadership Center in Salem. The Geo-Environmental Section is committed to the protection and preservation of our state's unique environment. The section oversees environmental regulatory policy, processes and procedures, drives environmental streamlining, and serves as the agency interface with the regulatory community. The Wetlands Program is responsible for agency compliance with the Oregon Removal-Fill Law as well as section 404 of the Federal Clean Water Act. The goal of the Wetlands Program is to ensure that wetland and water resources are accurately identified during project development and that appropriate measures are taken to avoid and minimize impacts whenever feasible as well as to compensate for unavoidable impacts. The College Internship Program is designed to allow students matriculating through an accredited post-secondary program the opportunity to gain practical experience. We are accepting applications from students in accredited degree programs that have completed at least their second year in an Associate or Bachelors degree program as well as students enrolled in graduate school. We are also considering recent graduates that have completed their Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree in May 2016 or after.
