MobilizeGreen seeks a conservation-minded 11 week LA/GIS NPS Conservation Fellows Intern to support the Pacific West Region, Project Development Branch of the National Park Service with park facility and landscape improvement projects in parks across the region. As an intern, you will assist parks with landscape designs for day labor facility improvement projects, as well as assist with preliminary design and related activities for contracted projects. You will also provide technical consultation and documents for implementing actions to reduce barriers to accessibility. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide technical design expertise on real NPS projects, and have the opportunity to help implement projects that will provide greater access for visitors to National Parks. The NPS Conservation Fellows program is a unique opportunity designed for current undergraduate, graduate, or PhD students to launch their natural and cultural resources careers. The intern will receive hands-on learning experience, mentorship, and coaching to complete mission-critical work while developing leadership, critical thinking, and strategic communication skills. The workshop offers guidance on inventory collection strategies that are independent of the tool used to assess risk. Focus is given to inventory elements required by Hazus, with an emphasis on components that are most important in terms of defining hazard related economic and social impacts to FEMA Region 10 states. The Land and People Lab at Trust for Public Land (TPL) seeks a GIS Project Manager to lead, manage, and implement the ParkServe® database and web application, one of TPL’s flagship products. The free, publicly accessible ParkServe® mapping platform empowers users to plan and advocate for new local parks to help close the park equity gap. Based on a comprehensive parks database for all urban areas across the country, ParkServe allows users to view parks, their 10-minute walk service areas, and the neighborhoods that do not have a close-to-home public park. Health, equity, and environmental metrics are used to prioritize where new parks are needed first. The GIS Project Manager will also lead, manage, and implement the delivery of GIS-based projects and initiatives related to 10-minute walk access to parks, and land conservation, community schoolyards, and green stormwater infrastructure planning and analysis. The GIS Project Manager must be an effective presenter and communicator and highly skilled in the GIS field with extensive experience in all aspects of GIS project development, management, and execution. The GIS Project Manager will also lead, manage, and implement the delivery of GIS-based projects and initiatives related to urban park and open space planning and analyses. Because the scope of TPL’s GIS work is broad, this includes a wide variety of GIS-based analyses in a highly collaborative team environment.
