This Wednesday September 28th the Conservation GIS group been invited to a share some thoughts over a beer or two in a discussion ...
Invitation from Jen Newlin:
GIS discussion idea: Using Earth observation for global challenges
I'm a writer (who loves science) working at a creative firm and I'm trying to better understand how people use NASA data. My first thought was to ask the people who know and use it daily—the local GISers. I'm reaching out to you for my own education, to get smarter about examples of work that showcase Earth observation in new or exciting ways—especially as it relates to global challenges like freshwater availability, food security, natural disasters, etc. The storyteller in me is looking for great examples of existing stories/images/videos of this data in action—and intriguing ideas for what you think could happen. I'd welcome a chance for an informal chat to hear what you think. Please join me at Basecamp Brewing (930 SE Oak St, Portland) this Wednesday, 9/28, from ~5:30 – 7:30. I’ll be picking up the tab. Thanks!
