SUMMARY:
Assists in the planning, design, development, and maintenance of the Tribal GIS. Provides technical and analytical support for GIS projects as required by GIS and as directed by supervisor. GIS Analysts perform GIS analysis, data creation and management, programming, database development and project management. They effectively prioritize and schedule a variety of work assignments, possess good verbal and written communication skills and establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, tribal members and outside agencies.The GIS Analyst is the first-level professional in the Analyst Series. The GIS Analyst differs from the Senior GIS Analyst by both the scope of work performed as well as by the level of supervision and direction required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: MA and 1 year of related experience OR Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in GIS, or related field, and 3 years of related experience; or Associates in Applied Science (A. A. S.) in GIS, or a GIS Certificate, plus 5 years of experience; or 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related Experience is defined as:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
