THE POSITION Douglas County Public Works Department Engineering Full Time Position works 40 hours per week, includes excellent benefit package, PERS/OPSRP retirement and availability of deferred compensation retirement savings program. This classification is responsible for performing computer-aided or digital drafting (CAD), supervising the development, maintenance and accessing of mapping information in the Geographic Information System (GIS) and serving as the technical resource for computer hardware, software and peripherals in the engineering division of the public works department.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education, experience and training: Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or electronics and two years experience in engineering and/or computer operations OR a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience or training. Considerable knowledge of automated equipment and systems; considerable knowledge of computer work stations, logic and operations; considerable knowledge of engineering principles and automation requirements; considerable knowledge of mapping practices and standards; considerable knowledge of programming languages and operating systems; considerable knowledge of mathematics, including trigonometry.
