Volunteer GIS Intern Reports to: GIS Analyst Position Summary The intern will work with an experienced professional, the GIS Analyst, primarily to support Wild Salmon Center site-based and regional conservation programs by developing and maintaining relevant data and metadata as they pertain to various projects. Depending on the intern's experience, interest and availability, s/he will be responsible for performing a broad range of GIS functions including but not limited to: creating informative maps; gathering, processing and documenting geographic data; fixing broken links in maps to recently moved data; editing vector/raster datasets; conducting research (finding datasets, including imagery, new GIS tools, etc.); creating datasets from raw data or converting from non-spatial form; and creating or finding documentation of datasets. A successful intern will be able to work both independently and collaboratively; develop high quality maps; and hone professional GIS skills as applied to conservation projects. The internship is a volunteer position envisioned for 10-20 hours per week for approximately eight to ten weeks.
