The World Resources Institute is seeking candidates for a Geographic Information System (GIS) Research Analyst II to join the Global Forest Watch Commodities (GFWC) team, under the Food, Forest and Water (FFW) Program. As part of the Global Forest Watch Commodities team, the GIS Research Analyst II will support the GFWC team in preparing data, developing content and analytical tools for the GFWC platform and its web applications, and undertaking technical research and analysis related to commodity-driven deforestation. The Research Analyst leads delivery of GIS-related technical outputs for team strategy development and provides training to WRI colleagues and external partners in the use of GFW tools and resulting analysis.
Global Forest Watch Commodities (GFWC) is an interactive online forest monitoring and alert system designed to help companies meet their sustainable sourcing commitments and to better manage and conserve forest landscapes. As part of the broader Global Forest Watch initiative, GFWC places near real time data in the supply chain context to address the impacts of palm oil, soy, cattle, pulp and paper, and timber production. GFWC establishes partnerships with private sector companies, as well as certification bodies and multi-stakeholder initiatives to envision and implement a sustainable commodities future.
