Position:  GIS Specialist
Department:  Information Services
 
Pay Range 25: $4,826 - $6,351 per month depending on qualifications.
Full-time regular position with benefits. 
Close: March 23, 2018
 
The Information Services Department is recruiting for the above position. See attached job classification for more information. We are also recruiting externally at this time.

The City of Hillsboro is looking for a fanatic GISer to fill an open GIS Specialist position (opening due to a promotion!). The GIS team in the Information Services department joins forces with the imbedded GIS teams and power users across the City to empower GIS tools and solutions for departments to serve our Hillsboro Citizens. Projects vary from small to large, internal or external applications, creating, processing and maintaining data, and much more! 
 
This position touches many different types of GIS work which also contributes to our surrounding jurisdictional partners at the local, county and state level.  The candidate we are looking for will work together to balance and enhance these concepts with the existing team and together, achieve assignments with a wide range of varying governing perspectives and priorities. 
 
General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform technical support for GIS systems.  Incumbents may serve as the initial response to an application, system, or related technical problem; troubleshoot performance issues; etc. Incumbents may be responsible for administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and monitoring applications, programs, devices, computers, or other technical products, processes, or systems.  Responsibilities include production system problem resolution and provision of support to Analysts.
 
Acceptable Experience and Training
Associate’s degree in Geography, Computer Science or a closely related field and 3 years GIS data development and cartographic experience and may require specific certifications; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
 
Licensing/Certifications
Depending on assignment, some positions may require:
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
