GIS Technician w/City of Tigard (OR)

Overview
​This position plays a valuable role the city’s enterprise GIS program.  In addition to working with the GIS team on exciting and cutting-edge GIS technology projects, this position supports Public Works in maintaining geographic databases of vital city infrastructure such as streets, water, sanitary, and sewer systems.  This position also works closely with Public Works field crews to find solutions to improve worker efficiency and ease of data collection. Many other GIS program project also arise create opportunities to work on varied GIS challenges.

The selected candidate will be an individual that brings energy and GIS flair to the Tigard GIS Team.   With a passion for mapping, the new GIS Tech II approaches their work with enthusiasm and exceptional attention to detail.  They will be a great team player and offer new and refreshing ideas to our exciting work environment and interesting list of GIS projects. You belong with Team Tigard!

Examples of Duties
  • Maintaining and improving geodatabases of city utility systems
  • Configuring field applications for optimal use by Tigard departments
  • Working on ad-hoc mapping requests and projects from Tigard departments
  • Assisting with data sync’ing with the city’s asset management solution
  • Configuring GIS data and solutions in the city’s web mapping application solution for Tigard departments
  • GIS emergency management support

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • Equivalent to the completion of a two-year degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in geography, computer science, or related field AND 
  • Two (2) years of experience in GIS data development and cartography.

Union Representation: SEIU

Schedule: The Tigard GIS Team has a flexible work environment, offering a combination of onsite and remote work.  Work schedules are also flexible.

Compensation for Utility Worker II: The hourly range for this overtime eligible position is $28.23-$37.48 per hour. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate’s related experience and education in accordance with the City’s pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $34.32 per hour.
