DEA’s Portland, OR office Geomatics team is currently seeking to hire a GIS/IT Professional for our Oregon Region.  This position will be developing and programing a regional GIS approach as well as mentoring existing staff on the use of GIS.  A successful candidate must be able to perform tasks quickly with minimal supervision, to meet schedules and timeframes.  Responsibilities for this role will be but not limited to the following:

  • Help to establish and support eGIS application and identify areas of need and improvement.
  • Work with users throughout the enterprise to understand business requirements and workflows and identify enhancements for eGIS. Ability to identify underlying issues client requests may cause and question need for specific enhancements.
  • Design, develop, and implement future enhancements to EGIS application leveraging ArcGIS Server, API (FLEX, JavaScript / HTML5), and other 3rd party server technologies
  • Serve as primary technical contact for client needs and work closely with client project team, project manager and technical lead
  • Translate requirements into technical specifications and write program code for GIS applications in the ESRI development environment using technologies such as ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcSDE, and others
  • Understand the project scope and provide estimate based on the client requirements
  • Apply software development lifecycle methodology to ensure quality applications are designed, developed and delivered
  • Assist in marketing GIS services from standalone consulting to product deliverables from other business units.
  • Provide customer support and maintain good relationship with the client

Qualifications:
  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field
  • Five years of experience using the ESRI ArcGIS platform.
  • Experience in public speaking and training
  • QA/QC experience preferred.
  • Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP)
