JOB SUMMARY:About the Agency
THIS IS A TERM POSITION NTE 13 months, with possible extension up to 4 years (extension is not guaranteed). The position is organizationally assigned to the Division of Resource Planning, Use and Protection, Forest Resource and Special Status Species Branch, Portland, Oregon.
This is an interdisciplinary position and can be filled under any of the following series: GS-401, General Biologist; GS-408, GS-410, Zoologist, Ecologist; GS-430, Botanist; GS-482, Fishery Biologist; or GS-486-11, Wildlife Biologist. The series of the position will be determined by the qualifications of the selectee.

Serves as the Regional GeoBOB Data Steward for the maintenance of the Geographic Biotics Observations system. Duties include: Collects and documents and helps analyze user requirements, helps the database administrator maintain the operability of the system by entering new data element information into the database, editing it and deleting outdated components. Develops and provides updated information on system changes to the field. Provides leadership to enable the database structures to accommodate survey protocols for Special Status and other designated species. Helps to assure that database documentation for users is accurate and up-to-date. Provides data stewardship for historical and current population data for species included the NW Forest Plan, Threatened and Endangered Species and species in other categories of importance. This includes regional coordination of the database to provide key information for implementation of on-the-ground projects.
