This is a full-time, SEIU represented position with the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB). This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates.
OWEB's mission is to protect and restore healthy watersheds and natural habitats that support thriving communities and strong economies. OWEB operates a grant program that supports local, voluntary partnerships to restore and protect fish and wildlife, improve water quality and enhance watershed health. OWEB awards over $30 million in grants each year and manages an ongoing workload of previously awarded grants of approximately $125 million. OWEB works closely with landowners and local, state, tribal, and federal agencies to advance OWEB's mission and the goals of the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds (Oregon Plan). OWEB is responsible for reporting on its grant program and on progress of implementing efforts under the Oregon Plan.
The GIS and Technology Specialist assists OWEB in meeting the agency's responsibilities under statutes and rules related to monitoring and reporting on the progress of the Oregon Plan and other OWEB program priorities. This position has the responsibility to develop and maintain natural resource geographic information that supports implementation of the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds and other agency programs through intra- and inter-agency coordination of data and information management activities. The GIS and Technology Specialist administers OWEB's Geographic Information Systems and provides spatial-data mapping, analysis and interpretation functions for OWEB programs. The position also provides internal guidance, standards, and suggestions for efficiencies through emerging technology, for data developed and stored by OWEB.
